A Local Court Has Fined Rs.120 To Aamir Khan
A local court has imposed a fine of Rs. 120 on Bollywood star Aamir Khan, director Ketan Mehta and producer Bobby Bedi for failing to appear in person or through their counsel in connection with a case against them for alleged distortions in the film "Mandal Pandey: The Rising".
Junior division judge Azad Singh, hearing the case pertaining to alleged distortion of facts in their film on the life of the hero of the first freedom struggle, imposed the fine as they failed to appear in person or through their counsel despite orders to this effect.Besides these three, fine has also been imposed on the Chairman of the Film Censor Board.
The next date for hearing in the case has been fixed for August 6.
The case was filed in September 2005 by one Santosh Pandey belonging to the native village of Mangal Pandey objecting to alleged character assassination of the freedom fighter as well as some portions of the film. (IANS)
